The Commissary program at Philmont Scout Ranch is an essential component of the trek experience, providing participants with the supplies they need to sustain themselves throughout their journey. Strategically located across the ranch, the commissaries serve as logistical hubs where crews can restock food, supplies, and water during their trek.

Each commissary offers pre-packaged trail meals designed to be lightweight, easy to prepare, and calorie-dense to meet the energy demands of trekking. These meals cater to a variety of dietary needs and restrictions, ensuring all participants are well-nourished for their journey. Crews typically stop at designated commissaries along their trek route, where they pickup for fresh supplies.

The commissary experience also introduces Scouts to the logistical challenges of wilderness expedition planning. Participants learn the importance of rationing, efficient packing, and teamwork as they distribute supplies among crew members.

In addition to resupplying food, some commissaries usually have a trading post that sells trail essentials in case your equipment fails on the trail. Staff members at the commissaries are always ready to assist crews with their needs, ensuring they are prepared for the next leg of their trek.

The Commissary plays a vital role in supporting the adventurous and rugged experience of Philmont, enabling Scouts to focus on exploring the wilderness, developing skills, and creating lifelong memories.
