Closing Campfire

Available at: Camping HQ

The Closing Campfire at Philmont Scout Ranch serves as a meaningful conclusion to the trekking experience, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on their journey and celebrate their achievements. This event is designed to honor the successes of the crews, encourage introspection, and inspire Scouts to apply the lessons learned during their trek to their daily lives.

Held on the final evening of the trek, the campfire brings together participants under the expansive Philmont night sky. The program often includes storytelling, music, and shared memories, fostering a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment among the Scouts.

The campfire is conducted by the Activities Department, with specialists responsible for planning and facilitating the program. These individuals ensure that the event is both inspiring and meaningful, providing a fitting end to the Philmont adventure.

In some instances, due to weather conditions such as monsoon rains, the Opening Campfire and Closing Campfires may be held under cover to ensure the safety and comfort of participants.
